Officials at the Grand Rapids Public Schools aren’t happy that Portage School Superintendent Ric Perry is thinking about opening a charter school there. MLive Grand Rapids reports that they think Perry’s role as head of the International Baccalaureate Schools of Michigan is a “conflict of interest”. Perry has said he’s “exploring” the idea of opening a charter school in Grand Rapids using the I-B program. The Grand Rapids district already has one I-B program and plans to open another. Perry has been suspended from his job in Portage as school board members consider charges that he had an “inappropriate relationship” with another district employee.
